Maybe the currents had circled back already. Maybe she had come to find him. He narrowed his eyes and kicked gently through the water, closing the distance. His flippers moved faster than he intended, driven by something deeper than thought. The swimmer grew clearer. Then clearer still. And just like that… the hope softened. This was not Luna. This turtle was smaller. Narrower. Faster. And moving with the unpredictable zigzag of someone who had never once worried about where they were going. Before Sammy could even speak, the young stranger zipped past him like a darting fish — then spun around and stopped nose-to-nose. “Whoa! Hey there! Are you a real sea turtle or just a super convincing piece of seaweed?” Sammy blinked.
