Mar 14
Description
Event Description
The Flagler County Historical Society invites the community to celebrate the grand opening of the new Vault Room Museum, located inside the historic 1926 Flagler County Courthouse in Bunnell.
This unique museum space is located in the courthouse’s original vault room, where county records were stored for decades until the Kim C. Hammond Justice Center opened in 2007. The newly restored space seats up to 50 visitors at a time and features 10 original courtroom benches from the courthouse’s second-floor courtroom.
Visitors will experience a collection of exhibits highlighting important moments in local and regional history, including:
• The history of the Flagler County Courthouse
• The AAUW 1920 Women’s Voting Rights movement
• The development of eco-tourism in Flagler County
• Documentary work from Seeking Insights for Solutions
• Veteran interviews and oral histories compiled by historians Sisco Deen and Bill Ryan
The opening of the museum also coincides with a major milestone — the 100-year anniversary of the historic courthouse building (1926–2026).
Community members are invited to attend the official ribbon cutting ceremony and be among the first to explore this new historical exhibit space.
