Palm Coast Historical Society Announces New Leadership and City Historian Nomination
Palm Coast, FL — The Palm Coast Historical Society, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to preserving, protecting, and sharing the history of Palm Coast and its people, has announced its new leadership team along with a formal nomination for the position of Palm Coast City Historian.

Peter Johnson has been appointed President of the Palm Coast Historical Society. Serving with him on the executive board are Reasa Pabst as Vice President, Richard Cooper as Treasurer, and Mia Parada as Secretary. Tricia Aanderud and Alex Maller continue to serve as Board Directors.

In addition, the Society’s Board unanimously approved Preston Zepp as its nominee for appointment as Palm Coast City Historian. The nomination will be forwarded to the Palm Coast City Council for consideration and requires council approval.

“Our community’s history is a living story, and preserving it is both a responsibility and an opportunity,” said Peter Johnson, President of the Palm Coast Historical Society. “We are focused on building upon recent progress—particularly the preservation of Fire Station 22—while expanding events, outreach, and our speaker series. We also look forward to strengthening connections with local schools so that history remains accessible, relevant, and engaging for future generations.”

Preserving Palm Coast’s Past

The mission of the Palm Coast Historical Society is the collection, preservation, and dissemination of materials related to the City of Palm Coast and the people who have shaped its history.

Founded in 2000 during the city’s early years, the Society was formed with Margaret Davies and Art Dycke appointed as Co-Historians by Palm Coast’s first City Council. From the outset, their goals were clear: begin documenting Palm Coast’s history, establish sustainable funding, and find a permanent home for the growing collection.

Over the following two decades, those founding goals remained at the heart of the organization. A major milestone was achieved with the establishment of a permanent home at Holland Park. During this period, Art Dycke continued to shape the Society’s direction, later serving as Co-Historian alongside Elaine Studnicki.

Now, more than twenty-five years after its formation, the Palm Coast Historical Society looks to the future—committed to protecting local landmarks, expanding educational programming, and ensuring that Palm Coast’s history is preserved and shared with generations to come as the city continues to grow and evolve.
