 Episode 5: The Lost City

A story about memory, discovery, and the voices that came before us.

Long ago, when Luna was just a tiny hatchling nestled in the sand, she would fall asleep to the sound of ocean stories. The elders spoke softly in the moonlight, their voices full of mystery.

“Deep beneath the waves,” they’d whisper, “there lies a city made of coral and song… a place where mermaids danced and sea turtles carved their dreams into stone.”

Luna would close her eyes and wonder, Was it just a story? Or was it real?

Years passed. But the story stayed with her.

The Tale Resurfaces

One quiet evening, Luna and Sammy floated near the surface, watching stars flicker above like sea-fireflies.

“I’ve been thinking about the stories the elders told,” Luna said.

Sammy rolled onto his back. “The Lost City again?”

She nodded. “Don’t you ever wonder if it’s real?”

Sammy smiled. “I wonder all the time. But I thought it was just… a bedtime tale.”

“What if it wasn’t?” Luna said. “What if those stories were breadcrumbs left behind — for us to follow?”

Following the Echoes

With hearts full of curiosity and courage, they swam deep into the sea, beyond the reefs, past where the sunlight fades. The ocean felt different there — older. Still.

They found pieces first: a broken sculpture, half-buried in the sand. A spiraled stone archway wrapped in seaweed. Faint carvings shaped like turtles holding flippers.

“It’s not just a story,” Luna whispered. “It’s a memory.”

Sammy touched one of the symbols. “Do you think our ancestors left these behind… for us?”

What Was Lost, What Remains

At the heart of the ruins, they found a quiet chamber. The walls were covered in markings — swirling lines and turtle-shaped constellations.

Oshiana’s voice echoed faintly in their minds, like a whisper carried on the tide.

“The past is never truly gone. It lives in our songs, our shells, and the stories we carry.”

Luna closed her eyes and sang softly. Not a song she learned — but one she remembered. A melody from a dream, from her hatchling days.

The stones around her shimmered. The carvings seemed to hum.

From Then to Now

When they returned to the open sea, Luna and Sammy were quiet. Not because they were tired, but because they felt… full. Not with treasure, but with truth.

They had discovered something precious — not just a city, but a connection to everything that came before.

The Lesson

And so, children, listen closely — not just to stories, but to the feelings they stir.

Sometimes, what we’re told is not just fantasy. It’s a piece of who we are. It’s a message left behind by someone who once swam these waters — so you would one day find your way.

Because the past doesn’t just tell us where we’ve been…

…it reminds us who we are.
