Flagler County Emergency Management and Flagler Volunteer Services invite community members to participate in the Disaster Volunteer Training Series at the Emergency Operations Center. Taking place on Thursday September 17 2026 from 5:30 PM to 7:00 PM, this practical class equips individuals with essential skills to support neighborhood safety and communication during emergencies or severe weather events.

Class Focus and Topics Covered

GMRS Radio Systems. Learn how General Mobile Radio Service systems operate and how to obtain a proper user license.
Emergency Operations Center Communication. Practice effective communication techniques to stay in contact with the command post during crisis situations.
System Reliability. Understand how to maintain reliable communication channels when traditional phone lines, power grids, or cell networks fail.
First Responder Coordination. Help ease local coordination between affected neighborhoods and emergency response teams during disaster recovery efforts.
