Palm Coast Flagler Community Honors Dispatcher Megan Burton at the 2024 Holiday Boat Parade
Continuing its proud tradition of celebrating outstanding community service, the 2024 Palm Coast Holiday Boat Parade, presented by the Palm Coast Yacht Club, will honor Megan Burton, a Flagler County Sheriff’s Office Dispatcher who has been named Florida Sheriff Association Dispatcher of the Year. The announcement was made by Sarah Ulis, Chair of the Parade.
Since relocating to Palm Coast from Montana in 2015, Burton has served as a Communications Specialist First Class for the Flagler County Sheriff’s Office. In this role, she has become a crucial link between the community and the emergency and police services that protect it. Burton’s exemplary work has helped thousands of Flagler County residents, earning her recognition for directly saving lives in critical situations before responders could arrive.
Sheriff Rick Staly praised Burton, stating, “Her calm and professional demeanor has helped callers during times of distress. Her attention to detail has ensured the safety of our deputies and responders, leading to the best possible outcomes. Her dedication to training new dispatchers has been invaluable. We are immensely proud of her achievements, most recently being named Florida’s Dispatcher of the Year and the honoree of the 2024 Palm Coast Holiday Boat Parade.”
Now in its 41st year, the Holiday Boat Parade will take place on Sunday, December 15, 2024, and remains the third largest lighted boat parade in the United States. The event draws thousands of spectators annually and will once again be broadcast live on KOOL-FM 100.9, courtesy of Flagler Broadcasting. Additionally, the City of Palm Coast will provide worldwide live coverage on YouTube, marking the sixth year of this dual-platform celebration.
