Building the Future: Flagler County’s New Expo Hall Set to Transform the Fairgrounds

Something big is taking shape in Bunnell — literally and figuratively. Flagler County has broken ground on a brand-new Expo Hall at the Flagler County Fairgrounds, marking a milestone moment for residents, local businesses, and event organizers alike. The long-awaited project will bring a modern, multi-purpose facility right to the heart of the county, expanding what’s possible for community gatherings, trade shows, and emergency operations for years to come.

A 10,000-Square-Foot Vision for Flagler’s Future

When construction wraps, the Expo Hall will feature roughly 10,000 square feet of open indoor space, offering the flexibility to host everything from home and garden expos and career fairs to wedding receptions, youth competitions, and cultural festivals. Including the lobby, restrooms, storage, and kitchen facilities, the total building size will reach close to 15,000 square feet under roof — giving Flagler County one of the most versatile public venues in the region.

Located just north of Cattleman’s Hall at 150 Sawgrass Road, Bunnell, the Expo Hall is designed to seamlessly connect with the existing fairgrounds layout, making indoor-outdoor events easier to plan and far more accessible for the public.

Designed for Celebration — and Preparedness

County officials describe the new hall as more than an event space. It’s also a key piece of Flagler’s emergency preparedness strategy. Built to withstand Florida’s harshest weather, the structure can serve as a multi-use facility during storms or natural disasters, supporting staging, recovery, and logistics when needed most.

In everyday use, the Expo Hall will open doors — literally — for community programs that outgrew smaller venues. It’s an investment in both people and preparedness.

Economic Ripple Effect

The addition of a large, climate-controlled space is expected to bring measurable economic benefits to the area. Local vendors and artisans will gain a new platform for seasonal markets and trade shows. Regional conferences and expos will bring visitors who fill nearby hotels and restaurants. Youth organizations, small businesses, and nonprofits will have a place to connect with the public without leaving the county.

In short, Flagler will no longer need to rely on out-of-town venues for large-scale gatherings — keeping that activity, and its spending power, right here at home.

Community Collaboration in Action

The project represents a true partnership between Flagler County Government, the Flagler County Fair & Youth Show, and other local stakeholders. Together, they’ve envisioned a space that celebrates Flagler’s spirit of community while strengthening its resilience.

County leaders say the Expo Hall will be a place where local traditions meet modern possibilities — a facility built to serve everyone, whether you’re attending a farmers market, a wedding, or a countywide safety briefing.

Looking Ahead

Construction is underway following a ceremonial groundbreaking on November 5, 2025, and anticipation is already building. Once complete, the Expo Hall will become a central hub for events that highlight the best of Flagler from agriculture and business to culture and community service.
